Founded in 2015, we are dedicated to preventing all forms of cruelty to animals, with a particular focus on preventing the illegal use of dogs to hunt wild mammals.
Our experienced team of volunteers can provide training in the recognition and reporting of illegal hunting. Training is open to everyone, but we would particularly welcome enquiries from Police Forces so that they are better equipped to understand and enforce the legislation.
We can also provide speakers for events and educational establishments. Our expert team can cover topics including Hunting with Hounds, the seal and badger culls in the UK, poaching and illegal trafficking of animals in Europe and the slaughter of migratory birds.
We provide assistance to local groups who monitor the activities of hunts and report illegal activity to the appropriate authorities.
We campaign for the strengthening and enforcement of current animal welfare legislation, both in the UK and in the EU. Our main focus are the Hunting Act and the EU Birds Directive. We also campaign for an end to the badger cull in England and the seal cull in Scotland. We will be lobbying the UK and EU parliaments on all of these issues.
Most people are unaware that Hunting with Hounds continues in the UK despite the 2004 Hunting Act, that seals are routinely culled in Scottish waters or that birds migrating to and from the UK and illegally shot as they pass over Southern Europe. HOWL is using a variety of media to highlight these issues and build public support for opposition to these hunts.
We fundraise to support campaigns and to provide financial assistance to local groups of volunteers who monitor and oppose hunting.
By networking with similar groups around the country, providing guidance, professional advice and funds.
