To whom it may concern,OpenLetter

We would like to bring to your attention the recent actions of the Atherstone Hunt who are based in Witherley, North Warwickshire as we feel that their recent behaviour has breached the MFHA code of
conduct.

Firstly according to the MFHA code of conduct it is the Masters of Hounds (i.e. those in charge of the hunt), or their appointed deputies, that are solely responsible for the conduct of each
day’s hunting and are therefore bound by the strict rules and instructions of their own governing body; their instructions must be willingly followed.

The recent actions of the hunt stewards which can be found here.

This footage clearly shows that the masters of hounds on this day had no control over their hunt stewards and a member/employee of the hunt and if they are responsible for the conduct of each days
hunting then these individuals have surely bought this particular days hunting into disrepute and therefore the Masters of Hounds are accountable for their actions?

Secondly the MFHA code of conduct also states that all who follow hunting must be aware of other countryside users. People work at a wide variety of businesses in rural areas, and there is an
increasing number of recreational and leisure users of the countryside. Other people’s views must be taken into account and respected. Every effort must be made to avoid giving offense. Common courtesy is essential and must be granted to everyone – a simple “please” or “thank you” costs nothing.

The recent footage concerning the actions of hunt stewards and a dead goose would certainly give offense to any member of the public. We would also strongly suggest that the member of the
Atherstone Hunt who was present also gave offense as she did not offer any condemnation of the actions that were taking place in front of her but instead filmed the events whilst laughing.

We eagerly await your reply.

Yours sincerely,
